5 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

How much fun is it to read fun facts about other people?

Although I have a love/hate relationship with 3 truths and a lie (hello… awkward ‘get to know you sessions at team training’), I do love learning new things about people. I love having fun, laughing and I’m ok with laughing at myself (see the above photo!). So here we go…. 5 things you didn’t know about me.

1) Puddle jumping is my favourite.

So, when the rain starts, instead of hiding inside with hot chocolate and a movie, Cody (my son) and I get dressed up and head out! We have a really good spot where lots of people park on the grass, so there are HUGE craters which create deep, muddy puddles. Do you know what is even cuter? Cody currently wears my old puddle suit from when I was little!

2) I don’t eat gluten… and I really miss it.

I was really poorly a few years ago and haven’t been able to eat it since. I miss bread, cakes, and biscuits. I’m not one of those people that feel healthier for not eating it. I just want to eat peanut butter and jam on toast… or macaroni cheese (in the blue box!)… or cake…

3) When anyone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would always reply with ‘I want to be a swimming instructor in the summer and a ski instructor in the winter’ .

I had other goals and careers in mind later on, but I am happiest when I am swimming or skiing! I spent 3 months in Canada, working hard in order to get my ski and snowboard instructors qualifications. Now… if they would only build a snow dome in Portsmouth, my childhood dream might come true!

4) I love learning and reading.

I read every night before going to bed. I love to read to my son… he’s not so sure about my ‘voices’ though. I even have laminated the whole of ‘The Gruffalo’ story so that I can read it in the pool to some of the children that I teach. At the moment, I am reading lots of crime thrillers.  I’m always up for new book recommendations. I also love learning… I will sign up for new courses or new classes online or in person. I love going to lectures and taking notes. Lucky for me too, as learning all the ‘business side’ of running a swimming school has been a huge learning curve!

5) I am a little bit obsessed with Lego…

I keep buying it and telling myself it is for Cody. However, I’m not so sure! I find it so therapeutic. I make sure I’m the one that gets to ‘help’ Cody build his sets. I have spent ages rebuilding my Lego Paradisa sets… all for Cody to ‘set on fire’ and then destroy with his lego fire engine!
