Yes. Mermaid swimming is great fun, but you absolutely need to be able to swim confidently and competently.
All swimmers must meet my swimming requirements:
You must...
– be able to swim 25m confidently on your front and back
– be able to tread water for 30 seconds
– be able to roll over in the water horizontally
– be happy going under the water
– be able to perform a dolphin kick
We will do a fun warm up in which I will assess their ability to complete these skills. Any children who are unable to manage these skills will not be able to wear a monofin or tail. This also forms part of my terms and conditions.

Appropriate swimwear, goggles (optional but recommended), towel and a sense of adventure!
Some of the pools have limited changing facilities, meaning you might need to come ‘swim ready’ or ‘beach ready’. This means that you come with your swimwear under your clothes. I’ll let you know about this in advance.

Absolutely!
First of all, I ensure that all participants can swim before joining a class. It is essential that my swimming requirements are met in order to you safe.
I teach participants how to put on tails safely AND how to take them off safely. This can even be done whilst swimming. The fins I use have a quick release system, ensuring that they can be kicked off quickly and easily. We balance underwater activities with surface activities.
I have a Water Safety Partnership with the Royal Life Saving Society which is incredibly important to me.
I’m also a Local Ambassador for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.

Yes!
I love running mermaid parties and they are so much fun!
However, I’m really struggling for pool space for parties.
I’m still developing my website, but you can email me for more details.

The sIort answer is NO. However, there are exceptions.
The tail is easier - if it fits my fins AND allows water to drain through it, normally that will be ok. This is at the instructor’s discretion.
If you bring your own fins, they must be made by FinFun and must be inspected by the instructor.
Fins made by any other company cannot be used. The simple reason for this is that The Royal Life Saving Society have done the hard work for me; they have tested lots of different fins and advised me that FinFun are the best entry level fins on the market (and I agree). As a small business, I simply can’t safety test all fins, so I’m trusting the RLSS!
